The Cane Corso should have presence. Bone, muscle, strength and substance are qualities we value, but size alone does not make a better dog.
At Castlerock, we want substantial dogs built to use their power. Mass should be supported by sound structure, strong movement and the athletic ability expected of a working guardian.

The Cane Corso should be confident, intelligent and aware of its surroundings. Natural protective instinct matters, but so does the ability to recognize what belongs, assess a situation and respond appropriately.
At Castlerock, we value a dog with the courage to stand its ground when necessary and the stability to remain calm when it is not. A guardian should be deeply connected to its family, watchful of its property and capable of distinguishing everyday life from a genuine threat.
The goal is not indiscriminate aggression. It is a guardian with judgment.

A Cane Corso should possess the substance, strength and unmistakable presence of a mastiff while remaining balanced and capable. Powerful head, substantial bone, muscular construction and sound proportions should work together, creating a dog whose appearance reflects what it was built to do.
At Castlerock, we value substance without exaggeration and athleticism without sacrificing breed character. Too much exaggeration can compromise function. Too little substance can lose the presence and power that define the breed.
